Utah CE Requirements:
Hours Required:
Apprentice, Master and Journeyman Electrician: You must complete sixteen (16) CE hours every two years.
- At least 12 hours shall be core continuing education. Core education is defined as eight (8) hours of education covering the National Electrical Code (NEC) as adopted or proposed for adoption, and four (4) hours of education covering the National Fire Protection Association 70E (NFPA 70E).
- The remaining 4 hours may be professional (industry related topics) or core education. The professional continuing education is defined as four (4) hours of education covering topics related to:
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), or Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA);
- Electrical motors and motor controls;
- Electrical tool usage; or
- Supervision skills related to the electrical trade.
License Renewal Period:
Apprentice, Master and Journeyman Electrician: You must renew your license by November 30 of every even year.
Course Pre-approval:
The following courses are pre-approved by the State of Utah Division of Professional Licensing (Board):
- UT 8-HR NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020
- UT 4-HR Industry Related

Provider Pre-approval:
CEDworkforce.com is approved by the State of Utah Board of Electricians to offer continuing education courses to licensed Utah Electrical Apprentices, Master and Journeyman.
Online Learning:
Apprentice, Master and Journeyman Electrician: You can take all of your continuing education hours online.
Reporting:
We will report your credit hours to the Board within seven (7) days of course completion.
