Pennsylvania CE Requirements:

Hours Required:

Electrical Contractor: You must complete at least eight (8) CE hours per year. All hours must relate to the National Electrical Code (NEC).

 

Electrical Inspector: You must complete at least twelve (12) CE hours per year. All hours must relate to the National Electrical Code (NEC).

 
State Electrical Inspector: You must complete from 15 to 45 CE hours per year, at least 1/3 of which must be directly related to his/her code certification categories.
 
To ensure completion of all required continuing education hours, the following course combinations are recommended:
  • Electrical Contractor: Take the 8-Hour NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part I course.
  • Electrical Inspector: Take the 8-Hour NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part I course + 4-Hour NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part II course.
  • State Electrical Inspector renewing UCC Certification: Take the 8-Hour NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part I course +  7-Hour NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part II course.

 

License Renewal Period:
Electrical Contractor and Inspector: You must renew your license annually from when your license was issued.
Course Pre-approval:

The following courses are pre-approved by the State of Maryland Department of Labor – Board of Electricians:

  • PA 8-HR NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part I
  • PA 7-HR NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part II
  • PA 4-HR NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020 – Part II
