This is a State Board-approved online continuing education course for Residential, Journeyworker, and Master Plumbers licensed in the State of Colorado. This online IPC interactive presentation covers key definitions, sections, articles, examples and tables of the IPC, aka, International Plumbing Code, and a summary of 2021 changes and updates. This is the first part of the IPC which includes chapters 1 to 6 of the IPC 2021, whereby each chapter is thoroughly discussed, from general installation requirements to specialized systems and emerging technologies. The following chapters, are briefly discussed below and illustrated in this course:
 

  • Chapter 1 – Scope and Administration: Establishes provisions for the application, enforcement and administration of subsequent requirements of the code.
     
  • Chapter 2 – Definitions: Provides the repository of the definitions of terms used in the body of the code. Codes are technical documents, and every word, term and punctuation mark can impact the meaning of the code text and the intended results.
     
  • Chapter 3 – General Regulations: Contains safety requirements for the installation of all types of plumbing and non-plumbing fixtures.
     
  • Chapter 4 – Fixtures, Faucets and Fixture Fittings: Regulates the minimum number of plumbing fixtures that must be provided for every type of building.
     
  • Chapter 5 – Water Heaters: Includes the design, approval and installation of water heaters and related safety devices.
     
  • Chapter 6 – Water Supply and Distribution: Provides the supply of potable water from both public and individual sources to every fixture and outlet so that it remains potable.
