Saint Louis County Mechanical Journeyman: You must complete twelve (12) Professional Education Units (PEU's) which is equivalent to 24 hours of instruction, every three years.
- Of the 12 PEU's, a minimum of three (3) PEU’s must cover instruction on the St. Louis County Mechanical Code, Standards referenced in the County Mechanical Code, licensing requirements of other County Codes, OSHA regulations or courses covering Federal, State or Local Labor Laws. These PEU’s are known as the “Core Curriculum”.
- Of the 12 PEU's, a minimum of three (3) PEU’s must cover instruction instruction on subjects that address significant differentiating factors related to the specific work involved in the type of license being renewed. These PEU’s are known as the “Trade Specific Curriculum”.
- The remaining six (6) PEU's can relate to courses which cover instruction approved for continuing education credit by rules and regulations established by the Board.
There may be a carryover of four (4) PEU’s in excess of the required hours to the next license cycle. However, these PEU’s may not be used to satisfy the minimum of 3 PEU’s of “Core Curriculum” and 3 PEU’s of “Trade Specific Curriculum”.
License Renewal Period:
Saint Louis County Mechanical Journeyman: You must renew your license every three years from when your license was issued.

The following courses are pre-approved by Saint Louis County Board of Mechanical Examiners:
- 8-HR (4.0-PEU) IMC 2024 and Changes from 2021
- 8-HR (4.0-PEU) HVAC Essentials for Contractors and Technicians
- 8-HR (4.0-PEU) Basic Mechanical Principles & Equipment for HVAC Contractors and Technicians
