Alabama CE Requirements:

Hours Required:

Licensed Electrical Contractors: You must complete fourteen (14) CE hours every two years. Of the 14 hours, a minimum of 7 hours must relate to the National Electrical Code (NEC), and the remaining 7 hours can relate to the electrical industry or can be additional NEC hours. You may accumulate additional hours over the required fourteen (14) hours in an educational period and carry forward not more than six (6) additional hours to be credited to the following two-year educational period.

License Renewal Period:

Licensed Electrical Contractors: You must renew your license by March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31, every two years.

Course Pre-approval:

The following courses are pre-approved by the State of Alabama Electrical Contractors Board (AECB):

  • AR 7-HR NEC 2023 and Changes from 2020
  • AR 7-HR Industry Related
